Unleash your inner artist. Come along to the lakeside at Evandale Parklands on Sunday 14 April from 9am – 3pm for Art in the Park. Art in the Park is a new arts event created to recognise and promote the depth and diversity of our city’s creative arts community. Artists from a wide variety of mediums will display their works and demonstrate their creative skills while community members can get involved in the creative process too, whether it be getting their hands in clay, splashing some paint on a canvas or in some other creative medium.

15-21 April – Australian Surf Life Saving Championships
First held in 1915 in heavy seas at Bondi, the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, now familiarly known as “The Aussies,” has grown into one of the nation’s premier sporting events. Today, almost 100 years on, it remains as a prestigious celebration of lifesaving in all forms of surf competition. From the traditional surf boats, R and R and belt swimming, to the modern day Ironman and Ironwoman racing first introduced at Coolangatta in 1966, today over 10,000 competitors and club members make their annual pilgrimage to the host beach as they chase those elusive gold medals. 18-28 April – Gold Coast Film Festival
The Gold Coast Film Festival (GCFF) presented by Pacific Fair Shopping Centre has ‘unmasked’ its 2013 Program showcasing 28 feature films from a diverse selection of local and international filmmakers including a host of award-winning films. Now in its 11th year, the GCFF will be held over 10 days from April 18 – April 28 at Birch, Carroll and Coyle Cinemas at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre on the Gold Coast.
