Mermaid Beach Local Marymount High student, Monique Perere, a 12yo Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor and current Pan Pacific Champion of 2015, overcame tough competition against two boys at the Round Robin QLD Open on April 17th.
Monique came out with two out of two wins and the Gold, a fantastic effort!
Meanwhile, two Miami State High students will compete in the world kickboxing championships in May this year.
Tegan Daly and Britney Dolheguy were chosen for the Australian squad after cleaning up in their weight divisions at the Muay Thai Australia National Championships on the Gold Coast late last year.
Tegan, 16, and Britney, 15, are both trained by our own 11-time Muay Thai world champion Nathan ‘Carnage’ Corbett.
We wish them all the best of luck … mainly because we are a little scared of them.
