Mermaid Beach Residents Urged to Back Neighbourhood Watch

Mermaid Beach Uncategorized 20th February, 2013 No Comments

I urge residents of Mermaid Beach and Mermaid Waters to support our Neighbourhood Watch groups after police and insurers identified our suburbs among those being by targeted by burglars.

Suncorp Insurance data shows residents in Pacific Pines, Beechmont, Carrara and Nerang were the biggest victims of home break-ins last year.  The data showed Coomera, Pimpama, Labrador and Southport were the second most targeted suburbs last year, followed by Benowa, Chevron Island, Main Beach, Surfers Paradise.  These suburbs were then followed by Broadbeach, Mermaid Beach, Mermaid Waters and Nobby Beach.

While the crime record for the Mermaid and Miami area is nowhere near the worst affected on the Gold Coast, the community still needs to be aware of the problem and we need to work together to help reduce crime in the area. My brother Luke and I were first made aware of the growing problem last year. That is why the team at John Henderson Professionals Mermaid Beach stepped in to help revitalise the Mermaid Beach Neighbourhood Watch in July last year. Mermaid Beach is a prestigious suburb and we want to help keep it that way.

There is no suburb on the Gold Coast that is not affected by crime but with a strong Neighbourhood Watch in operation, residents can help reduce crime together. We are looking to grow the group and grow the area which it covers so we would appreciate as many residents coming forward as possible.

My company’s involvement in the Neighbourhood Watch was part of his team’s commitment to give back to the community. The local community has supported our family business since it was first established in 1973 and we have always believed in giving back to the community that has helped us. Most of our employees live and own properties in the suburbs that we service so we have a vested interest in helping the community be as strong as possible.
